About This Game Willful is an adventure game that borrows elements from Mega Man, Metroid, and other classics from the 80s and 90s. The Player takes up arms as a sacrificial offering named Will. As the player explores the different areas in the game they can spend money on powerups and golden carrots which grant access to new worlds. It's up to you to stop the reign of a mysterious entity named Behemoth, and his group of crazed followers! Willfull is an interesting retro platform\/shooter. I enjoyed the sprite work a lot, the levels are well designed and have interesting layouts. The npc's in this game are amazing, some very interesting characters with some hilarious dialouge. The controls are very easy to get comfortable with, Will handles the platforming elements very well. The soundtrack is catchy, I find myself humming themes from this game pretty often lol. My only gripe is that the game is short, but the price tag is fair for it, and it also seems like it would be fun to speedrun as well. I'd reccomend this game to anyone who enjoys retro themed platform\/shooter\/metroidvania type games.. I liked the game, although I don't think it's really worth more than a dollar. It was a fun world to explore, not very challenging, but fun.I will say, the game really feels like the developer rushed the ending, while jank is present for the whole game, it really ramps up when you're fighting the last few bosses. With the final boss feeling like it was just put there beause the game needed it to be considered finished.If I had anything to reccomend to the developer, it would be to take this game, and make a metroidvannia style game with the engine, with a heavy emphasis on exploration and atomosphere, I think they way they develop is really geared towards that. Though I might just like the atmosphere because it reminds me of old free indie games I used to play.Now, as for whether or not you should buy this game, While I'd like to reccomend it, I just cant at this price. It's a fun experince, there's nothing about the game that is actively offesive except for some occasional glitches or jank that thankfully your character is exempt from, but the ending really really left a bad taste in my mouth.. I had a ton of fun playing through this game. The controls are tight, the level design is fantastic, and the soundtrack is great. I never thought collecting carrots could be this much fun. I would definitely recommend, especially for the price.. \tThe movement of the game is fine for the most far in being responsive but the physics in the jumping in the game can be iffy with the second jump. I also don't really understand the purpose of having knock-back with the collision on the second jump with various objects. There is slippery collision on the second jump that can be abit annoying. The shooting mechanics starts off underwhelming but becomes decent later on with upgrades. I wish there was a way of knowing how many upgrades I had. I'm fine with a stamina meter in games but I didn't see much added to the game. There is also a fun "bug" with the Omnistar where you can charge a shot with one button and still shoot with the second "shoot" button.\tThe design of the stages were mostly good for the first 6 worlds. I didn't really feel like I got lost in the earlier part of the game and always kinda had an idea of where to go next. However, the later part of the game didn't too good of a job giving that sense of direction and it felt too much like a maze. Some of rooms did seem like there wasn't much thought into the design and did seem abit jarring. Puzzles in the game are pretty amusing for the most part and the enemies mostly do what they should do. Bosses are okay but could use some more interesting patterns with certain bosses. Carrot placement in the game were well placed and didn't really strike me as obtuse to figure out where and how to get (outside of a couple).\tThe music ranges from okay to underwhelming. I was fine with the choice of sound-font but it just felt wasn't properly utilize. It was my least favorite part of the game.\tThe art design choices is mildly interesting but for the most part consistent with its kinda "crude" (not a bad thing) presentation. Like with some of the later part of the game, some of the areas just look meh.\tOverall, its decent metroidvania type of game but pretty flawed.
